Panic Disorder
What is Panic Disorder?
Panic disorder is a type of anxiety condition that causes frequent feelings of anxiety, stress, and panic—often occurring suddenly and without an obvious trigger. It can lead to unexpected and repeated panic attacks, which may vary in frequency. Over time, this can create a cycle of living "in fear of fear", potentially triggering more attacks. During a panic attack, you may experience a sudden surge of intense mental and physical symptoms.
Symptoms of Panic Disorder may include:
Physical sensations: racing heart, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, faintness, dry mouth
Bodily reactions: sweating, trembling, shaky limbs, hot flushes or chills, nausea, churning stomach
Nerve-related symptoms: numbness, tingling (especially in fingers), pins and needles, choking sensation
Psychological effects: feeling detached from your body, fear of dying, sense of dread
