Educational Psychology Assessments at our clinic in London.

Educational Psychology assessments can be commissioned by parents or schools for a variety of reasons. It is important to consider each child as an individual, which means that it is normal for the assessment process to vary slightly for each child.

Educational Support Service Consultation

To determine if an Educational Psychology Assessment is appropriate for your child, we offer an initial one hour online appointment with parents/ carers only.  This allows for an in-depth discussion about the child’s developmental history, their strengths and your concerns. This can often be an intervention in itself, in terms of exploring strategies that may be useful.  We will also make further  recommendations and will provide you with a summary following the appointment, so you can make an informed decision on any next steps you may wish to take for your child.

An initial one hour online consultation with an Educational Psychologist  is priced at £200

What to expect during a Educational Psychology Assessment

  • During the initial consultation, you and your Educational Psychologist might agree that a full assessment is not the most helpful next step for your child at this time. However, our Educational Psychologists are able to offer bespoke consultations with the school, which in themselves can support meaningful change for children experiencing barriers to their learning. Bespoke consultations are charged on an hourly basis. They can also be requested following a full assessment, for example to create a support plan with the school or to review a child’s progress.

If a full assessment is recommended, it will comprise either of the following:

A session of about three hours spent at the Family Treatment Service clinic in London, during which the Educational Psychologist will talk with your child and use appropriate assessment tools to gain an insight into their thinking and learning skill.

The service will also send a questionnaire to you and to your child’s school, which provides the Educational Psychologist with important information.

  • The full assessment also incorporates verbal feedback. Within three weeks you will receive a written report, detailing the background information, assessment and suggestions and recommendations for supporting your child. The report can be shared with your child’s school or prospective schools.

The assessments that we provide are primarily focused on establishing a clear picture of an individual's cognitive and learning profile, with the aim of getting clear answers to questions concerning their cognitive functioning and learning. It covers aspects including reasoning ability, working memory, processing speed and depending on the individual needs, also covers aspects such as maths ability, phonological processing, writing skills. The assessments we provide are not EHCNA/statutory assessments in that they do not cover the other 3 primary categories of SEN (SEMH, communication and interaction, sensory and physical).

A Educational Psychology Assessment is priced at  £1000.
