London Autism Service

Part of The Family Treatment Service, London Autism Service brings together experienced clinicians to provide a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to autism assessment and diagnosis. Our aim is to help individuals and families better understand their needs, with clear recommendations and access to ongoing support where appropriate.

Autism Assessments for Children and Adults

An autism assessment can provide valuable insight into the way an individual experiences, communicates and interacts with the world around them. Whether you are exploring an assessment for yourself or your child, London Autism Service offers a carefully considered pathway, tailored to individual circumstances.

Autism Assessments for Children

Our child autism assessments explore a young person's developmental history, communication, social interaction and individual strengths and needs.

The assessment process involves parents or carers and, where appropriate, information from school, allowing our clinicians to build a fuller understanding of the child across different environments.

Autism Assessments for Adults

For adults who have long wondered whether they may be autistic, a formal assessment can provide greater understanding of their experiences, strengths and challenges.

Our assessments explore developmental history, communication and social experiences, bringing together information from different stages of life to support a careful diagnostic evaluation.

Support Beyond Diagnosis

An autism diagnosis is not necessarily the end of the journey. Understanding what it means for everyday life, education, relationships and wellbeing can be equally important. London Autism Service offers access to a range of specialist support, which may include clinical psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and family sessions.

Our multidisciplinary approach allows recommendations to be shaped around individual needs, helping children, adults and families identify practical next steps.

Our Multi-disciplinary Services

  • Clinical Psychology

Our psychologists are involved in the process of diagnosing both children and adults as autistic. We recommend appropriate treatment programs, and support the process of evaluation, benchmarking and ongoing assessment.

  • 1-1 Parent Support

1:1 Parent Support Sessions give you dedicated time to talk through what's actually happening at home and at school, make sense of it, and leave with strategies that fit your family

  • Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is an evidence-based profession that seeks to enable a person to engage in everyday activities that they need, want, and/or have to do, that are necessary, meaningful, and supportive for everyday life.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The benefits of talking therapies for Autistic individuals and their family members can improve communication as well as their mental health and well-being.

  • Family Therapy

No-one lives their life in isolation. Publicly and privately, at work and at home, we all have an impact on the people around us. Each of us is one part of a wider network or ‘system’. Our interactions with other people are how the system works.

  • Support Groups

London Autism Service offers clinician-led support groups for individuals and families, providing a welcoming space to share experiences, build understanding and develop practical strategies for everyday challenges.
