Anxiety
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. This is a common feeling that we can all experience at times, especially during a stressful situation. However, anxiety can be a problem if it is persistent, overwhelming, interferes with daily life and occurs without a clear reason or disproportionate to the situation.
Symptoms of Anxiety may include:
Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) – chronic worrying about a wide range of issues
Panic disorder – sudden episodes of intense fear (panic attacks)
Social anxiety disorder – overwhelming fear in social situations
Phobias – intense fear of specific things or situations (e.g. heights, spiders)
Health anxiety - excessive worry about one's health significantly interferes with daily life
