Kate Brace is an Art Psychotherapist with 8 years of experience working in Adult
Mental Health services within Central North West London NHS Trust. Prior to this
Kate gained experience working with children and adolescents in school and
therapeutic day-centre settings. Kate has extensive experience working with people
facing a range of mental health challenges from anxiety and depression to psychotic
disorders and acute mental health crises. Since graduating from the MA in Art
Psychotherapy in 2018, Kate has trained in Mentalisation-Based Therapy and
Trauma-Informed frameworks, integrating these within a sensitive approach which
considers a person’s difficulties as meaningful and understandable responses to
what has happened in their lives and significant relationships. Kate’s approach is
underpinned by psychodynamic and attachment theory and supports the creative
exploration of thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to access
through words alone.
Kate’s honours the uniqueness and individual life situations of each person she
works with and offers a secure and non-judgemental space in which they can
address what feels most significant for them. Kate uses evidence-based
interventions to address a range of difficulties and diagnoses and is committed to
developing her practice in line with current research through training and regular
clinical supervision.
