Dr Rebecca Dixey is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC and has over a decade of experience working in a range of NHS services. She has substantial experience in providing evidence based therapies to clients, whilst tailoring interventions as needed and keeping individual needs at the centre of any treatment plan.

Most recently, Rebecca has been working in the National and Specialist CAMHS DBT Service at the Maudsley Hospital. She has a special interest in supporting young people and their families who are facing the challenges of emotion dysregulation and the associated difficulties, including self-harm, suicidal behaviours and relationship difficulties. She has particular expertise in DBT, working young people (and families when required) collaboratively and with a systemic lens to understand the challenges they are facing and to develop the tools and resilience they need to cope. This experience extends to working with young people with PTSD, eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders. She is skilled in bringing in other treatment approaches as required, including RO-DBT (radically open DBT), DBT-PE (prolonged exposure), CBT, CBT-E, FT-AN and CFT.

Rebecca recognises that coming to therapy can be hard. She starts with a comprehensive assessment to best understand the difficulties each client is facing, and to work collaboratively on a treatment plan tailored to individual needs. She understands that trusting your therapist and cultivating a good relationship is - alongside an evidence based approach - one of the central tenets to therapy being effective. She is particularly mindful of the impacts of discrimination that many clients face (often in the context of their own diversity) and works to ensure that therapy is a safe place to explore these experiences. She approaches each client as unique, and brings compassion, warmth, humour and experience to her work.
